Description: Located in Louisville,Kentucky,Bellarmine is a 4-year private comprehensive university. It was founded in 1950 by the Archdiocese of Louisville to serve the region by providing a values-centered education in an environment of academic excellence in the Catholic liberal arts tradition. Bellarmine was selected by US News and World Report for the 10th consecutive year as one of the top universities in the South. Bellarmine's 135 acre campus features a 72,000 sq. foot library. A new chapel,residence hall and campus center were completed for the 2001-2002 academic year. The indoor tennis center was renovated to include a recreation and fitness center. A 28,000 square foot addition to the science center opened in 2003. Over 50 fields of study are available in the arts and sciences,education,business,nursing,and health sciences. The student to teacher ratio is 12:1. 90% of Bellarmine students receive institutional financial aid.
